About us
The Portsmouth City Council Public Health Intelligence Team is based within Portsmouth City Council and conducts research and analysis for the Safer Portsmouth Partnership (SPP) which is now a part of the Health and Wellbeing Board.
The SPP is the statutory partnership responsible for crime, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and reoffending. Partners such as the Police, Council, Probation Services, Fire Service and NHS as well as representatives from the community and voluntary sector are working together across the city to deliver long-term sustainable reductions in crime, anti-social behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse and reoffending.
About the project
Crime data is variable and often subject to changes in recording over time. For this reason, one of the most reliable measures of people's experience and perceptions of crime, ASB and substance misuse is through resident surveys. Nationally this is addressed through the Crime Survey for England and Wales. We also feel it is important to have this type of information at a local level so we can identify changes to experience and perceptions over time and in order to address the issues which are important to city residents.
We will be conducting a survey to find out about Portsmouth residents' perception and experience of crime and anti-social behaviour. This survey helps to identify problems in the area and informs the Safter Portsmouth Partnership's strategic plan.
We are looking for motivated individuals who will help us conduct the field work by undertaking face to face surveys with members of the public. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain research experience which will enhance your CV, to help your community and get paid for your time.
Who is the person:
We are looking for motivated candidates with:
- Enthusiasm.
- Good communication/interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use your initiative.
- Attention to detail and be able to record information accurately.
