Job introduction 

  • We are looking for 2 Terminal Supervisors to join our team at Portsmouth International Port to oversee the day to day operations of the Port. This is a full time role based at the Port, working a varied shift pattern over a rolling 28 day period, including some night shifts.

Your new role

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise passenger, freight, and security operations across ferry, cruise, and port facilities.
  2. Manage staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with council policies and operational standards.
  3. Respond to emergencies and maintain safety, security, and environmental standards.
  4. Oversee infrastructure, legal compliance, and revenue recovery across port services.
  5. Support training, recruitment, and stakeholder engagement, including cruise customer coordination.
  6. Lead reviews of procedures, risk assessments, and site condition checks.
  7. Assist with financial reporting, project delivery, and represent the port at external events.
  8. Maintain operational readiness and support mooring operations as needed.

Who is the person summary: 

The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience and strong health and safety awareness, ideally holding or working towards a ‘Managing Safely’ qualification. They should possess solid knowledge of DGHAR and the ISPS code, excellent IT proficiency, and strong communication and customer service skills. The role requires teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, and flexibility to meet operational demands. A VHF license, full UK driving license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and at height are essential.
